Open source BI solutions offer some advantages but there is a long way to go to resolve issues that prevent market adoption. Some open source products are free to use, but vendor support is not free. Other open source BI tools are free for the community edition, but not for the enterprise. Businesses need swift implementation and roll-out, and timely support and should look at Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
